中文摘要：成语是中国文化的重要组成部分,是不可忽视的语言瑰宝。学习成语不仅能提高语言学习者的语言能力,更能增强对民族文化的认同感。如今,在全球一体化的大背景下,各种文化之间的交流也在不断加强。其中,成语在文化交流的重要方式——文学翻译活动中扮演着重要角色。本文结合成语的定义和特点等基本要素,总结了常用的四字成语翻译策略,如:直译、意译、节译等,同时举例论证了成语在文学翻译中的应用。

外文摘要：Four-character Chinese idioms are an important part of Chinese culture, and they are the sparkling treasure in language field that cannot be neglected. Learning four-character Chinese idioms can not only improve language learner’s language ability but also his sense of identity towards his culture. At the present time, in the context of globalization, different kinds of cultures are exchanging more often. In this process, four-character Chinese idioms play an important role in literature translation works,which is a significant way of culture exchange. This essay aims to give a basic understanding of four-character Chinese idioms by illustrating three aspects: the definition of four-character Chinese idioms, the origins of four-character Chinese idioms, the characteristics of four-character Chinese idioms. In the fourth part, the common four-character Chinese idioms translation methods have been summarized, which are: literal translation, free translation, clipping translation and etc. In the last part, the examples of four-character Chinese idioms application in literary works are presented.
