外文摘要:The cost-effectiveness of removing gaseous selenium from municipal solid waste (MSW) incineration flue gas is essential for environmental protection. Activated carbon (AC) is extensively used to remove gaseous pollutants due to its large specific surface area and abundance of oxygen-containing functional groups. This study investigated the adsorption mechanism of SeO2 (g) on activated carbon surfaces with oxygen-containing functional groups in incineration flue gas, using a combination of experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The activated carbon with a low content of oxygen-containing functional groups (PAC) was first prepared by acid washing. Then, the adsorption experiments were carried out on a selenium adsorption setup to compare the adsorption performance between AC and PAC. The results demonstrated that oxygen-containing functional groups significantly enhanced the selenium adsorption capacity of AC, with the maximum capacity reaching 2620.09 mu g/g, representing a 63.6 % increase compared to PAC. The distribution of selenium forms adsorbed on the surface of activated carbon showed that selenium mainly existed in the form of Se4+ and was adsorbed on the carbonaceous surface through the formation of Se-O-C covalent bonds. Oxygen-containing functional groups markedly reduced the adsorption energy of SeO2 by enhancing active sites of adjacent carbon atoms, achieving the most stable adsorption energy of -636.59 kJ/mol. This study provides a theoretical foundation for the enhanced control of selenium emissions from incineration flue gas using activated carbon, which can facilitate cleaner incineration and enhance selenium emission controls.
