外文摘要:Arctic summer–autumn sea ice has declined markedly in recent decades, especially in the East Siberian Sea (ESS), a key sector of the Arctic’s Northeastern Sea Route. This study demonstrates that developing La Ni?a events trigger substantial ESS sea-ice loss through a tropical–Arctic teleconnection. Sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies across the tropical oceans excite a Rossby wave train that propagates northward and then eastward, establishing a meridional sea-level pressure dipole—negative over northeastern Russia and positive over the central North Pacific—and driving pronounced southeasterly winds over the ESS. These winds enhance warm-air advection and moisture convergence, increasing downward sensible heat flux and net longwave radiation, which accelerate thermodynamic ice melt. Dynamic ice processes further modulate the response: in the central and northern ESS, ice divergence allows thermodynamics to dominate widespread loss, whereas in the southeastern ESS, ice convergence and positive advection counteract melting, leading to local ice maintenance or gain. CESM2 pacemaker experiments confirm that tropical Pacific SST anomalies dominate the teleconnection, with secondary contributions from the tropical Atlantic and a weaker influence from the Indian Ocean. The results highlight the phase-asymmetric nature of ENSO impacts on Arctic sea ice and provide a mechanistic basis for improving tropical–Arctic linkages in climate models and seasonal prediction. ? 2026 Elsevier Ltd.
