中文摘要：由于主持指挥取得镇南关大捷而名震中外的冯子材,是中国近代史上著名的爱国民族英雄。但长期以来,人们对冯子材的研究不多,仅有的几种记述冯子材生平的著作都是错漏百出的,以讹传讹,谬种流传。究其原因,除了冯子材自己文化不高,不善于宣传自己,及与文化人接触不多,不容易为人所了解外,也与他受当时把持朝中大权的湘淮系有矛盾以致受排挤有关。

外文摘要：Mr. Fengzicai got well - known internationally as a result of his chief - commanding of the Victory of Zhengnanguan. He had been celebrated as a patriotic national hero in Chinese modern history. But there＇s little research on him and few historical materials about him were found with too many errors . That＇ s because Mr. Fengzicai was not well - educated and not good at showing himself off in the public. It ＇ s also because he seldom communicated with outside world, especially those well - educated elite. Finally, it might be possible that Mr. Fengzicai had conflicting interests with Xiang - Huai Group in the central government and had been squeezed out by them.
