外文摘要:Paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) of Alexandrium catenella was cultured in the laboratory, and the adsorption of PSP onto chitosan (CTS) was investigated. The optimum adsorption conditions were as follows: pH 3.5, contact time 90 min, temperature 40 degrees C, and volume of CTS 3.5 mL (2%). Kinetic data were tested using pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. The data correlated well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, indicating that chemical sorption was the rate-limiting step. The best interpretation for the thermodynamic experimental data was explained by the Freundlich isotherm model. Thermodynamic parameters, including Gibbs free energy (Delta G degrees), enthalpy (Delta H degrees), and entropy (Delta S degrees), were evaluated by applying the Van''t Hoff quation. Results of Delta G degrees < 0, Delta H degrees > 0, and Delta S degrees > 0. Results indicated that adsorption was both feasible and spontaneous, and that endothermic adsorption can be processed in nature.
