外文摘要：Microplastics (MPs), a new type of pollutant, are widely distributed in marine environments worldwide, and severely affect the marine environment and the development of human society. In this study, the distribution characteristics and sources of MPs in the tidal flat of Zhanjiang Bay in southern China were analyzed. The average abundance of MPs in Zhanjiang Bay beach was 66.7 ±72.7 items/kg, with sizes of mainly 1–3 mm. Abnormal abundance and characteristics of MPs in the samples from the bay were associated with hydrodynamic conditions, the beach substrate type and biological activities. The MPs in the inner part of the bay might have been derived from domestic sewage discharge and ship wear, and the MPs at the middle of the bay might have originated from aquaculture activities. In contrast, the MPs outside the bay might have originated from human activities in the Pearl River Delta and western Guangdong. ? 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
