中文摘要：清末民族英雄冯子材在谈到其祖籍时,曾称是广东南海,但又遗言后人到南海故里探访确实。后人去南海探访,却毫无线索。反之,在广西博白等地冯氏族谱中却有关于冯子材祖辈的记载,据此,可以肯定冯子材的祖籍是在广西博白,而冯子材不敢承认此事,可能与他要隐瞒年青时曾在广西博白参加反清起义的历史,因而在清政府的统治下忧馋畏讥有关。

外文摘要：The national hero Feng Zicai in latter Qing Dynasty had called Nanhai of Guangdong his family＇s ancestral home while mentioning the history of his family, but had the will of asking the descendant to go to Nanhai to have the confirmation. The descendant visited Nanhai and got no clue at all. On the contrary, there are records about Feng Zicai＇s ancestors in the Feng＇s family tables in Bobai of Guangxi, which can affirm Feng Zicai＇s ancestral home in Bobai of Guangxi, but Feng Zicai did not dare to admit this, and it may have the relationship with his withholding the truth of participating in the anti-Qing uprising and his anxiety and fears to the Qing government.
