外文摘要：The relationship between“Self”and“the Other”is the one of intersubjectivity,in which they function as counterparts and consultants,rivaling,consulting and accepting each other,and thus establishing the existence of each other.Eliminating the other,self will have nothing to depend on for its existence.In The Golden Bowl,Henry James makes a profound illustration of otherness/intersubjectivity through the ethic narrating of the intricate marital relationships between the four main characters,and their emotional frustration and mental confusion experienced in pursuit of happy life.
