外文摘要:Zhanjiang Bay is one of the major aquaculture centers in China and has many types of aquaculture. This study investigated heavy metals in surface sediments of different aquaculture areas and non-aquaculutre areas in Zhanjiang Bay to clarify the impacts of aquaculture. The average total metal concentrations (mu g/g) were 0.075 for Cd, 42.32 for Cr, 13.95 for Cu, 15.65 for Ni, 29.76 for Pb and 48.48 for Zn. Relatively high concentrations were observed in the mixed (fish and shrimp) culture area and few non-aquaculture stations, indicating the influence of mixed culture and terrestrial wastes. Compared with the oyster culture area and cage culture area, the heavy metal concentrations in the mixed culture area were relatively high, which was related to the addition of large amounts of feed and poor water exchange in this area. The average percentages of Cd in acid soluble fraction were 52.0 % and 43.4 % for the aquaculture areas and non-aquaculture areas, respectively, indicating relatively stronger anthropogenic inputs and higher ecological risks in the aquaculture areas. The results of the environmental quality assessment indicated that some parts of the aquaculture areas and their surrounding stations were contaminated by human activities. In summary, aquaculture activities and terrestrial wastes contributed to the relatively high concentrations of heavy metals in some parts of the studied area. The impacts of different aquaculture types and water exchange conditions on heavy metals in sediments varied. The results of this study can provide useful references for scientific planning of aquaculture.
